Abstract

This study discussed about the anxiety disorder of spiritual identity of the main character in ALEPH novel. To analyze the data source in this study writer uses theory from a famous figure which is Sigmund Freud that is called by level of mental life, province of the mind and dynamic personality. This study reveals the anxiety of the man who try to find his spiritual identity. The symptom can be identified when the main character feel anxiety. There are three types of anxiety: neurotic anxiety, moral anxiety and realistic anxiety. The technique of colleting data used the qualitative method because the characteristic of this method uses the basic assumption of the social construction of knowledge and assesment of behaviour, attitude and opinion. The result of this study is to know what the symptoms anxiety of the main character is and what is the process lay behind human’s mind.
