Abstract

The aim of this study is to design English syllabus for Academic Staff in Raffles Christian School. This study reflects the English for specific Purpose that meet the professional need in the job setting. The study introduces a need analysis, the outline, the materials and the methodology of the syllabus. Need analysis was conducted to find out the problems that staff face in using English skill in their job setting. The interview was conducted toward academic staff and questionnaires were distributed to get the information about the institution and what learners need. As a guidance to design the syllabus, the writer adopts Hutchinson and Water theory. This study also provides the suitable materials to support the activities in the course. To apply this syllabus, the methodology has to be chosen to support the teacher. As a result, this syllabus can be applied for Academic Staff as it deals with the context EOP (English for Occupational Course). Keywords: Syllabus, Course, Need Analysis.
