Abstract

This research was aimed to know how the main character is described in the Despicable Me film by analyzing the evidence from the dialogues and his actions within the film, to know the personality aspects, and the changes that happened to the main character. The writer used “Despicable Me” film which is directed by Pierre Coffin and Chriss Renaud, released on July 9th, 2010 by Universal Pictures. The writer focused on the main character activitiy that is analyzed by using psychological approach. However, the main character Gru has some characterization that suitable to be analyzed by using psychological approach. Gru was characterized as a rude, ambitious, never give up, villain, great parent, full of love and a brave man. Rude and ambitious become the Id side of Gru. on the other hand, never give up and villain become the Ego side, while great parent, full of love, and brave are included into Super-Ego.
