Abstract

This study is aimed to discuss the process of Teaching English Speaking using CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) the study was conducted in class eight grade at SMP Nusantara Plus Ciputat South Tangerang. This study also discussed the materials in the class, and the implementation the learning process in the class. To find out the result of teaching speaking using CLT, Many activities were given such as variation topics in speaking or conversation. observation, interview, and questionnaire were done the process of teaching speaking. The students enjoyed the speaking class using this method. From the result of the study it can be concluded that teaching English speaking using CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) is able to motivate students to speak English and also help them improve their speaking skill. The activities given were interesting such as story telling, brainstorming, discussion, information gap, interview, story completion, reporting, picture describing, simulation and roleplay and doing corrections with their peers. The materials used in teaching speaking at SMP Nusantara Plus are based on English book teacher must develop the materials using communicative approach. The result of CLT method used in speaking activity can give some advantages to the students, such as to give motivate the students and make them able to speak well.
