Abstract

This study aims to look at how far the Four Square method can improve students' writing skills, specially for students sitting in junior high school. Researcher chose Four Square Method as the researcher noticed that the method is suitable for the learning of students in junior high schools. This method teaches students how to write a much simpler and easier to understand. Students are invited to create a story starting from the simplest phases ranging from one topic to the formation of sentences and become a perfect story. Classroom Action Research selected as the design of the study. Unit planned learning materials in the design implementation of learning (RPP) and implemented in teaching and learning is a primary data source in this study than as a source of additional interviews. Results of the analysis of 3 planned lesson plans and used during the learning process both oral or written , and all instructional materials to support the learning materials like textbooks as the main reference, internet and other books . Whereas in 2 x classroom observations, which indicated that active students in receiving materials increased in line with the results of each test are given in each cycle . And through a 1 x interview, show that the method is applied to yield significant results in improving students' writing skills. Keywords : Writing Skill, Four Square Method, Cycles
